Iran Map & Cites Kangavar – il Tempio di Anahita

Kanvagar è una piccola città, molto antica, che si trova a metà strada tra Hamadan e Kermanshah. Circa nel 200 A.C., durante l’occupazione della città da parte dei Greci Seleucidi, fu li costruito uno dei principali santuari in onore della Madre Santissima Anahita, che fu venerata nell’antica Persia, assieme a Ahura-Mazda e Mithras. Questo vasto tempio fu costruito con enormi blocchi di pietra decorata, con una imponente entrata con due scale contrapposte, che potrebbe essere stata ispirata dall’ Apadana a Bisotoun – una iscrizione di Dario in un luogo a circa quattromila piedi di altezza sulle montagne, una delle più famose testimonianze dell’archeologia nel vicino Oriente, che ha attratto i passanti fin tempi immmemorabili. Fu li che Sir Henry Rawlison copiò le iscrizioni trilingui di Dario, incise in antico Persiano, Elamite e Akkadiano, nel 522 A.C., un passo importante per la decifrazione finale dei caratteri cuneiformi nel diciannovesimo secolo. I bassorilievi di Bisotoun sopra l’iscrizione, raffigurano Dario che affronta il nono Re ribelle, il cui governatore Achaemenide lui soppresse quando conquistò il potere. Ai piedi della collina si trovano tre bassorilievi Parthian, ritenuti i più antichi, severeramente danneggiati dalle devastazioni del tempo, ed una roccia scolpita, dono dello Sceicco Ali-Khan Zanganeh, il ministro del Re Savafida Shah Soleiman.
